A dated kitchen with a closed-off pantry and wine nook, rebuilt around charcoal cabinetry, Art Deco tile and warm brass.
The bathroom was not short of square footage, it was short of sense. Dated his-and-hers vanities ate the wall, the shower sat in the darkest corner, and the tub was stranded somewhere in between.
Relocating the shower and tub across to the windows was the change that unlocked everything else. It gave the room daylight where you actually stand, and it let us open the middle into a wet-room arrangement with twin showers either side of a slatted oak divider and a bench between them.
New cabinetry replaced the old vanities, and the palette moved to light neutrals, soft grays and tans across cabinetry, countertops and tile, which is what brings the whole room up to date and keeps it feeling calm rather than busy.
